Hi! I’m Kirsten Washington(she/her), a dedicated and empathetic counselor, with a passion that deeply aligns with helping individuals navigate their paths to healing and growth. My academic journey started at Nicholls State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, with a concentration of Child, Family, and Social Services.
Shortly after receiving my Bachelor’s, I decided to further my journey at Nicholls and earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my time there, I had the opportunity of working in the counseling center, catering to students on campus, experiencing various mental health challenges. With a broad range of experience, I have worked with young children, teenagers, and young adults.
My background includes roles in Community Psychiatric Support Treatment, Child Welfare Services, and providing ABA therapy. I have addressed a range of topics including anxiety, building self-esteem, gender identity, neurodiversity, and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming therapy. I am devoted to establishing and upholding a secure, inclusive, and equitable environment for all individuals.
I am a firm believer that we all have the intrinsic capacity for healing. Functioning from an integrative approach that is thoughtful and inclusive, I place emphasis on the importance of empowerment and the individual needs of my clients. I recognize the strength in each person's individuality through acknowledgement and validation of experiences, encouragement of authenticity, and supporting personal-growth. If you're looking for a therapist who provides acceptance and gentle curiosity, reach out to me and we can embark on this journey side by side
