Female Therapist

My name is Alexis Gonzalez, and I am a dedicated and compassionate licensed professional counselor and licensed addictions counselor with 6 years of experience working in the mental health and addictions field. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board for Certified Counselors. My dedication to the addictions field led me to obtain credentials as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC) and a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) which have given me the education, tools, and knowledge needed to better help those who want to take the first step towards positive change.

My experience in the mental health and addictions field has given me the opportunity to work with clients of all ages and different cultural backgrounds which has been rewarding and gratifying to see the growth one can make through the counseling process. Additionally, my own personal experiences coping with loved ones who struggle with addictions and mental health issues motivated my deep commitment to serving those who seek out help through counseling. I have experience working with various clientele dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, addictions, trauma, and domestic abuse along with working with clients within the criminal justice system. I also have experience aiding those working for the DOT begin the “return to duty process” to regain or obtain employment.

My approach to counseling is Cognitive based which helps identify and change thoughts, feelings, and actions that may be hindering your success. Together, we can work towards establishing a plan for change that will help you become better equipped with the tools needed to help you combat with triggers and stressors that may worsen your substance use and mental health issues. My focus and goal are to provide you with a safe nonjudgmental space for you to openly share your thoughts and feelings. I am here to help you navigate the challenges of life and overcome these challenges while feeling heard, understood, and supported through your journey of growth. If you are tired of drugs or alcohol taking control of your life, struggling with completing daily tasks due to symptoms of mental health, or trying to find the confidence you need to pick up the pieces after getting out of an abusive relationship, feel free to

reach out so that we can discuss what it is that you would like to work on in the counseling process. I look forward to working together to help you achieve the life you want to live.
